So I want to know who your favorite comic character Hero or Villain is. And they can be from any comic, graphic novel, one shot or pulp. So get to it! I will start ya off.....
Batman/Hero: why? Because he is just one badass vigilante millionaire playboy with serious issues
Joker/Villain: why? Because he is just one crazy ass nut case with serious issues
So what was the the number one thing that got you into comics?
For myself it was the ART, I just was facinated by the artwork.
Topic For Discussion
Question for all of my comic art friends. What are your thoughts on an artist offering to replicate a persons favourite Comic Cover as a painting in his/her own style and charging for this service? I have never seen this topic discussed but have seen instances where it has taken place.
1) Would this be wrong , and considered making money from some ones else's creation, even though the artist is using his own artistic skills to do the work?
2) If there are people willing to pay for this service and the artist is asked to do it, should he/she do it?
3) Is this a gray area?
4) Or is this ethically and morally wrong?
In my opinion as long as the artist isn't claiming to be the original artist and signs it in his or her own name then there's no problem. Buying original comic art, especially from "name" artists can be an expensive business so if someone can recreate, say, a Neal Adams…
Me too really. I always loved comics but when I was maybe 12 or 13 I saw b/w reprints of some of Barry (Windsor) Smith's Conan and Paul Gulacy's Master of Kung Fu made me look at the art properly.
